Meltzer, Arthur
Arthur Meltzer (1893-1989) was an American realist painter celebrated for his detailed landscapes and still lifes, particularly those capturing the rural beauty of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Meltzer also studied under Daniel Garber and later became an influential teacher himself. Alongside his wife, Lucille Wall Meltzer, he helped shape the regional art scene and exhibited widely. His work is characterized by crisp lines, luminous color, and finely balanced compositions that reflect both technical mastery and a deep appreciation for the American landscape. Meltzer’s paintings remain important contributions to the Pennsylvania Impressionist tradition and are held in both public and private collections.
