Gatch, Lee

Lee Gatch (1902-1968) was an American modernist painter associated with the New Hope School. Known for his dreamlike compositions and lyrical abstraction, Gatch blended influences from Symbolism, Cubism, and early American modernism. His work often incorporated mythological or spiritual themes rendered in soft, harmonized color. Though underrecognized in his lifetime, Gatch’s unique voice has earned renewed appreciation among collectors and scholars.
