Coarding, Gerald

Gerald Coarding (1911‑1986) was an American abstract painter whose training under Hans Hofmann and Fernand Léger informed his bold modernist canvases. After studying in Chicago, New York and Paris—serving in WWII and later working in New York—he settled in New Jersey, where his work gained renewed attention in the 1980s. His vibrant and geometrically‑inflected abstractions reflect a uniquely transatlantic sensibility and remain sought after by collectors of mid‑century art.
